CALL FOR ABSTRACTS
VIII. International Graduate Conference on Schopenhauer
The Schopenhauer Research Centre is delighted to announce that the Call for Abstracts for participation in the 8th Graduate Conference on Schopenhauer’s philosophy is now open. We welcome contributions on all aspects of the philosophy of Schopenhauer and the Schopenhauer school as well as their relation to different philosophical traditions – such as, albeit not exclusively, Ancient and Medieval philosophy, Oriental philosophy, German Idealism, Nietzsche, Freud, or Critical Theory.
Organized by the Schopenhauer Research Centre (Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz) since 2007, the International Graduate Conference has established itself as the major venue for doctoral students to present their work on Schopenhauer’s philosophy and related topics as part of their PhD project. This year, the conference will be held on November 25–26, at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz.
Please submit abstracts of 300 to 500 words in German or English, along with a short CV, to schopenhauer@uni-mainz.de until October 31, 2022. For accepted contributions, travel and accommodation expenses will be covered as far as it is possible within the budget. Alternately, participating via video-calls may too be an option, should international travel be impossible.
The main purpose of the meeting is to intensify an exchange through talks and discussions. Therefore, we encourage the participation of students and junior scholars working on a project on Schopenhauer even without presenting a paper. The conference is explicitly open to post-docs.
